I have been inspired by various sources that use a workout of the day/challenge of the day (or week sometimes) as a guide to training and fitness. My main inspiration is CrossFit, a training regime that I have yet to personally experience but am looking forward to trying out this summer. I also have gained some inspiration from Mark Sisson and his workout of the week archives. The general idea here is to provide a workout that people can perform on their own as long as they are functionally sound. What do I mean by functionally sound? I mean that an individual would be free of injuries, have appropriate movement patterns during prescribed exercises, and have no medical contraindications to high intensity exercises (such as cardio-respiratory issues/diseases or medications that will impair cognitive or physiological functions). If you are reading this and not sure if you are functionally sound or capable of attempting the Challenge Workouts that I am going to post, please be cautious and consult a medical professional before attempting any of the exercises that I post. If you have no medical issues that would stop you from undertaking vigorous exercise but you have not performed the exercises that I am posting, I will do my best to attach videos to explain the exercises and possible variations, but your best bet is to find a qualified professional (such as a Kinesiologist or Personal Trainer) to instruct you on correct execution of the exercises.
